We’ve all heard tales of a “Bridezilla” losing it, and not being able to enjoy their own wedding. Sometimes it’s hard to remember that no one wants to be a Bridezilla, they end up becoming one because they don’t know how to deal with wedding stress. Here is a list of helpful tips to keep you from turning into a Bridezilla.

  • Planning a wedding is a part time job. If you are short on time or have stressful job or lifestyle, consider getting the professional help and guidance of wedding planner.
  • Your friends and family feel they are being helpful telling you anecdotes or horror stories from other weddings. Try not to let these stories upset or anger you, every wedding is different.
  • Wedding have a tendency to bring up any unresolved family conflicts. Difficulties you have with your parents, fiancés relatives, or that ongoing feud between Aunt Mille and Aunt Edna. Don’t try to resolve the issue yourself and don’t let them draw a line in the sand with your wedding as the battle ground. Ask them to set aside their differences for your special day.
  • Change brings about stress. Unless you and your fiancé are currently living together, moving is a stressful event by itself, it’s perfectly normal for you to feel some anxiety about these changes.
  • Remember your wedding is taking place in real life and not a fairytale story. Obsessing over every detail to make every single thing perfect is not only impossible but unhealthy.
  • Try to schedule a vacation during planning, a long weekend with no wedding planning activities at all. If time or schedules don’t allow a mini vacation, try a visit to a day spa with relaxing massage. Sometimes not thinking about something can help you clear your mind.
