Planning for your Honeymoon
Traditionally honeymoons were paid for and planned by the groom and his family. However in more modern times the costs are generally figured into the wedding as a whole and the bride has an integral part in its planning. Here are something’s to think about when planning your honeymoon vacation
Destination
Airline
Transportation and Car Rental
Cruises
Special Honeymoon Packages
All Inclusive Resorts
When you start planning a honeymoon you will need to set up a budget. All inclusive resorts, packages or cruises make planning a little easier, however make sure you set aside some extra money for things that aren’t included, like scuba diving, snorkeling, Para sailing, or other excursions. Little things like this go a long way to making your honeymoon more unique and exciting, but they also add to the expense.
Make sure you have your passports, travel visa’s or any other documents in order. As December 2005 all United States citizens need their passports to enter and leave the country. You should also see if you are required to get any shots or immunizations before you travel. Get the shots well before the wedding in case you have any allergic reactions.
If you are visiting foreign countries take notice of any travel advisories put out buy the government. They help keep tourists advised of countries that may be unsafe for United States citizens. You should also know where the US embassy is and have the phone number with you. Should anything go wrong you want to be as prepared as possible.
A great way to get acquainted with the local area is through travel books. Guides like Frommer’s are available for almost every destination. You can also do research on the internet, but be careful what you read, as some posters have an axe to grind or exaggerate things to make them look better than they really are.
When you travel you will want copies of all of your passports, credit card #’s and traveler’s checks. Bring on copy with you (don’t keep it in the same spot as you keep your passports) and leave one copy home with a trusted family member. If the worst happens and they are lost or stolen you will know exactly what you are missing.
